xin nian lai lor..

or is it spell wrongly? oh well.. i dont know mandarin, so this is as close as it gets! haha.. anywayz, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

before chinese new year..
chinese new year is only 2 days away and like every festive celebration, the decorations are up with red lanterns, ang-pows, oranges. and yes, its just that feeling again. somehow, chinese new year seems to be a grand celebration. you can always tell the hype-ness of this celebration when..
1. people selling oranges by the sidewalk
2. people selling waxed bbq pork (blurpoint 1#: what's the significance of it?)
3. red lanterns hanging up in streets, malls
4. everyone getting a new haircut
5. malls are selling red clothes
6. bus tickets sold out 2 weeks before cny
7. chinese new year biscuits selling everywhere
8. weather starts to be freaking hot
9. feng-shui talk show showing in tv

and the most obvious of all..
10. chinese new year songs blasting everywhere is malls, radio and neighbourhood!

ahh.. the fun of chinese new year i would say. well, occasionally you'll see decoration of the particular chinese zodiac around. for this year, its year of the dog.. seems like there are new puppies around my neighbourhood too. (blurpoint 2#: so, if its year of the dragon, every house will be keeping a dragon as a pet..!?) oh.. the best part if you're staying in a major big city is, there's no jam! cuz most people would have jammed up the smaller towns.

during chinese new year..
there's also the FAQ during chinese new year..
1. 'got boyfriend already ar?'
-- as long as you're still single, this question will stick with you for a long long time
-- (blurpoint 3#: why dont people ask whether we've gotten any angpow already or not, instead..!?)
2. 'when are you getting one?'
-- you think getting one like getting a new blouse ar?
3. and occasionally.. 'when are you getting married?'
-- refer to question1 first.. aiyoh..

well, other than that, there tonnes of FAQ but couldnt really be bothered. i'm more concern about the food and the annual angpow collection. food is the best cuz thats the only time we get to eat as much as we want and worry about cholesterols later. hahaha

after chinese new year..
for almost everything that happens, there's the aftermath. some good, some not so good.. depending on how you see it to be.
1. kids happily counting their ang pow collections
2. parents counts how much ang pows that was given out
3. everyone worried about their physical size after consuming too much food(blurpoint 4#: guess this is when the gym and slimming center can get more customers)

but whatever it is, chinese new year is the best year for a family gathering. so, here's me wishing all.. 'Keong Hee Huat Chye' or... Happy Chinese New Year. ;o)
